Let’s follow each other! Our accounts: Davey B and Howie Fox
Right then, Howie and I are starting a challenge. We’ve decided to get in the best shape of our lives. And we’re not talking old school Hulk Hogan Muscle Monster Style, we mean lean, mean, healthy and energetic, a fitness level our body and mind will appreciate.
A little like Brad Pitt in Fight Club, just without the cigarette.
We could have picked a “healthier” photo, but this is just pretty damn cool. It’s also a good indicator of what we’re going for 😉
So, why did we start this challenge?
Well, as we both decided we want to get into peak condition we thought it might be fun to have a bit of a competition between the two of us. Push ourselves a little. Secondly, we’re signed up for the ‘Tough Mudder’ (Northern Germany) on the 11th of July 2015. It’s a hardcore, 19 kilometre obstacle race that requires you to have all-round fitness, meaning you need to have decent levels in both cardio and functional strength in order to enjoy the race. If enjoy is indeed the right word. Which it won’t be.
It’s Howie vs Dave. Bring it on.
Howie is determined to beat me, but I’m not going to let that happen. We only have eight weeks to get ready for it – but we know with a bit of dedication and pushing ourselves we can do this. Time to get the Rocky soundtrack out.
We need something that focusses on:
- being quick and easy to fit into our busy days (15-45 minute workouts)
- body weight training
- includes running
- is challenging
We looked around at various training programs that might help us and of all we found that Freeletics looks pretty interesting.
