Cottage Cheese Smoothie (High protein)
Are you looking for a super-cheap, quick and tasty smoothie that’s brimming with protein power? Then you’re in the right place.
This cottage cheese smoothie was originally created as part of a competition, but it proved so popular that it had to be shared again.
How to make a high protein smoothie
Thanks to the cottage cheese, there’s already a lot of protein in this smoothie.
You can make it EVEN higher in protein with added protein powder. It blends up nice and smooth. I’ve tested it with and without, and I prefer the consistency with it, but it’s great both ways.
Swapping the coconut milk for regular milk would also add a few more grams. I don’t do this as we’re already using dairy for the cottage cheese and possibly protein powder.
But tell me how the smoothie tastes!
The cool thing about adding protein powder is that you can also change the flavour any way you like. I use strawberry and banana in this breakfast smoothie and it tastes and feels like cheesecake, but you can add chocolate, rocky road, or vanilla protein powder to change things up. Go wild!
My favourite is cookies and cream.
Extra flavour ideas
Peanut butter
Pineapple
Mango
Raspberries
Other berries
You can really add as many fruits as you like to this smoothie.

Make mine a shake!
It’s kind of a cottage cheese shake, as it’s quite thick. I found adding a little water when necessary thins it down if you prefer it that way. However you like it, the taste is guaranteed. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- 1 cup strawberries, fresh (frozen is fine too; you can use any berries you happen to have around)
- 1 cup low fat coconut milk *
- 1 cup low fat cottage cheese *
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
Optional
- 1 scoop protein powder
Instructions
- One of the joys and reasons for the ever-lasting popularity of smoothies lies in the simplicity of it all.
- Just throw all the ingredients into a blender (peel the banana first ;)) and press the magic button.
- If smoothie is too thick, add some water. If it’s how you like it, serve!

So this is basically veggies against fruits as GiGi’s is made with cauliflower and y’alls is made with strawberries and bananas -which are two of my favs – but GiGi put chocolate in hers…Grrrr so hard to pick … I think I need to taste both! 🙂
hahaha, well I’m curious how you like GiGi’s as she definitely risked the most 😀
I would deff try them both. The cauli one intrigues me, absolutely. The other one is more practical and reality in my buddy, fast paced world. Thx for the recipes!!
hahaha, maybe the cauli smoothie will become the new standard 😀
I love the cottage cheese strawberry smoothie! It seems like it would be so creamy with the cottage cheese and coconut milk blended together, what a treat 🙂 I’ll have to try that for breakfast tomorrow but I can already say it’s my favourite of the two!
Definitely the cottage cheese and strawberry one! Sounds delish for breakfast. Cauliflower, pumpkin, chocolate balls….no thanks :/ I’d try a sip from someone elses but I don’t think I’ll ever be compelled to make that for myself lol. The only way I like cauliflower is roasted.
Two fantastic smoothies and what a fun concept. I’ve never seen a smoothie off before! And those chocolate cake balls look divine!
I vote for a hybrid… love the high protein of the second one with cottage cheese, but I also really like the idea of adding frozen cauliflower. I’m going to have to try that one!
I want the fruity flavor of yours because berries. But I like Gigi’s cake balls because toppings. So can I get a hybrid please?
