Vegetable and fruit smoothies are a great addition to your day and they’re a great way to get more healthy ingredients into your diet.

They’re packed with nutrients like vitamin C and D, as well as lots of protein – I made this a priority!

In fact, I made sure these weight-loss smoothie recipes followed such strict criteria that I even had to exclude some of my own because they weren’t healthy enough for this collection!

Before we get into the recipes, we should probably clarify: weight loss smoothies are not magic potions that make fat disappear!

If you want to drink smoothies to lose belly fat fast, you will need to drink them as part of a healthy, balanced diet.

The reason we talk about losing weight with smoothies is that drinking healthy weight-loss smoothies for breakfast or a snack is a great thing to incorporate into your diet at any time.

Especially if you are trying to lose weight!

Feel satisfied with these protein-packed recipes

In order for these weight loss smoothie recipes to make the grade they had to be able to keep you feeling full and satisfied until lunch.

These smoothie recipes required:

  • 15 g protein (but the more the better)
  • At least 5g fiber
  • Less than 5g of saturated fat
  • Less than 15g total fat
  • At least two portions of fruit or veg

Complete protein is important to help with weight loss as it contains all nine essential amino acids, something your body can’t produce on its own.

Dietary fiber is really good for your digestive system and it helps keep it ticking over (if you know what I mean!).

For more high-protein meal ideas take a look at this Free 7-Day High Protein Meal Plan, and there’s also a weekly plan too so you can get even more inspiration!

So let’s take a look at these protein-packed weight loss smoothies!

There are great vegetarian protein options that can go into smoothies. Whole foods like almond milk or peanut butter.

And there are also man-made ingredients like vanilla protein powder which are a great way to add loads of protein and boost that delicious flavor and creamy texture (you can also try protein powder in oatmeal!).

Weight Loss Smoothie FAQs

Here are the answers to some of your top smoothie questions.

How to store a smoothie?

Smoothies are great because they can be easily transported. The best way to store them is in an insulated bottle, that way they stay cool for hours!

Are smoothies a good way to lose weight?

Drinking smoothies can be a good way to lose weight especially as they’re often full of nutritious ingredients.

However, some can also be full of added sugar which can spike your blood sugar levels. If you want to lose calories staying within a calorie deficit and eating a balanced diet is key.

That’s why I chose only smoothies that were low in fat and sugar and high in protein for this list. You’re getting all the health benefits without damaging your weight loss efforts.

Is it OK to drink smoothies every day?

Yes, it’s OK to drink smoothies every day, however, the BBC recommends no more than one portion a day.

You may be tempted to follow these fad diets that are out there where all you have is smoothies all day, but high-sugar, low-protein recipes won’t keep you feeling full.

This could in turn lead to you going back to old habits rather than developing a healthy way of eating.

Can you make smoothies ahead of time?

The best thing is to make these easy recipes as you need them. The great thing is, most only take 10 minutes tops.

So there really isn’t any need to make them ahead of time, and you get the perfect smoothie fresh from the blender.

I love a healthy smoothie recipe, don’t you? They are full of fresh fruits and veg which can be easily found at the local grocery store.

They’re great for your immune system and are a good source of fiber and protein, making healthy eating really easy.

  1. I’m looking to lose weight, but also am wanting to find smoothie recipes that are low in carbs. Is that possible? Do you have any low carb smoothie recipes that are also good for helping to lose weight?

    1. Hi Nicci, for weight loss to work effectively it’s really all about the calories in vs calories out. So any of these smoothies with a balanced diet will be great for weight loss, as long as the rest of the food eaten over the day fits into a calorie plan (you can get one here https://hurrythefoodup.com/vegetarian-diet-weight-loss/).

If you specifically need low carb smoothies, some of these are fine, just click each one to have a look. Fruit always contains carbs, though the lowest tend to be melons, berries and avocado. I hope that helps your search 🙂

  2. Thank you Dave for including the mango raspberry smoothie recipe in this wonderful collection. I pinned it to the board. Thank you once

    1. You’re welcome, Rana!
